DSM Features Lower Operating Profit Caused by Negative Impact of ...
30/04/07 DSM announced that its first quarter sales rose 4% to 2.14 billion euro. EBIT, however, fell 6% to 192 million euro. In a statement, DSM attributes lower operating profit in part to much lower average currency exchange rates; the phasing-out of some contracts related to the acquisition of Roche Vitamins had a negative effect of less than EUR 10 million. DSM Nutritional Products saw its sales volumes in animal and human nutrition/health grow compared to Q1 2006. DSM Nutritional Products operating profit declined as a result of lower margins and the strongly negative impact of the US dollar, the company said. The operating profit was also negatively affected by reduced output at the Dalry site (Vitamin C, UK), which has continued into the second quarter due to a fire in a transformer, added DSM.

Health unit promoting beautiful smiles during Oral Health Month
Everyone deserves a beautiful smile is the theme and message the Sudbury & District Health Unit is promoting during Oral Health Month in April. Dental disease has been reduced significantly through the past several decades, but is still a very real problem. Research indicates one of every four children aged three to six has experienced cavities, and 80 per cent of these children have extreme oral health needs. The health unit offers a program that pays for dental care for children with urgent dental needs if their families do not have a dental plan and cannot afford to pay for dental care. Preschool and elementary school-aged children may be eligible for the program, called "Children In Need Of Treatment" (CINOT), if they have dental pain, infection, large cavities, bleeding gums or have mouth injuries.
Dominicans will have family health insurance coverage
Santo Domingo.- Employers and labor yesterday promised to support the start of the Basic Health Services Plan in the contributive regime as of May 1, as scheduled. The "Tripartite Agreement Declaration" states that in a period of 15 days both sectors, and the Government, will draft a discussion agenda on an economic and social pact that will be known in the Consultative Labor Council. The objective is to support an economic model that guarantees social development, the conservation of jobs, competitiveness, revision of some points of the Labor Code and the Social Security Law. It also establishes a new reclassification of companies. Next Tuesday the sectors involved will take part in an official ceremony to formally start the Family Health Insurance. .
